Xp vista connect crossover

Joined May 3, Messages 22, Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but crossover cable is not the correct cable to connect two computers to share internet, you need a normal cat5. Crossover cable is for transferring data from one to the other.

I have a clue for you because I had a similar issue in RC1 where I would set up a wirless adapter that I had to reapply every bootup. I suspect your issue has to do with the fact that a dialup has a different ip address, each time it dials up but where to go with the answer, is beyond me as I don't have dialup and haven't for many years so I have no way to check it out.

Joined Sep 15, Messages 1. Ok well its old school but does work. Here is my setup, which I also use to connect my ps2 to online games Need a crossover cable, internet access, and a bit of dos knowledge.
From there you should see two Icon's "Local Area Connection" and "Wireless Network Connection" or whatever other connection you have if its not wireless Try to browse the internet doesnt work for the computer you are trying to connect to the network So I know my Wireless Network Connection is "1" then type this command netsh bridge set adapter 1 e Note: You can also set the Local Area Connection to disable by typing netsh bridge set 2 d Now type in netsh bridge show adapter you should get something like this ID AdapterFriendlyName ForceCompatabilityMode 1 Wireless Network Connection Enabled 2 Local Area Connection Disabled After doing so notice that the bridge connection now has an ip assigned and you are good to use that connection for either your online gamin ps2 ps3 Xbox whatever or use for internet access.

Then I have another ethernet connection using a cross over cable connecting a XP laptop to my vista computer. Network works. I can exchange files from one computer to the other and the other way around.
I don't think its the firewall, because its turned off, I use F-secure. And I have tried the bridging thing, but Vista tells me it can only bridge two connections that are not connected to the internet? I would really appreciate anyone who can help me on this, I spent way to much time already. And I have the feeling that there is only one small setting left to change.
BTW, on my XP machine it says limited connectivity. Maybe this can help identifying the problem??? As Seen On. Welcome to Tech Support Guy! New posts. Search forums. Log in. Sign up. Good timing. Your firewall can also cause this to be a problem.
