Microsd card certified for windows phone 7

While I agree that it's nice they offered the ability to upgrade the memory capacity, they should have taken cues from every other mobile OS and not have implemented it the way they did. Lets renegotiate them. This is an inexcusable attempt at monopoly and extortion of our money by limiting our choices. This is a new low for Microsoft. Naw they are just copying Crapple. If they were copying crapple, the built-in memory would actually be built-in, and thus would not be slow like an SD card. This is why android has both high-speed onboard and SD even if the SD is usually hard to get to. Originally posted by Venom Providing such a convenient kill switch to end-users is a bad idea.

There's no "kill switch". Simply installing the card does nothing. You have to hard reset the phone to get it to incorporate the added memory. The idea was to have all memory be "main" memory, and not the way it was with WinMobile, where you had to decide where to install every app, main mem or removable mem.

This is an attempt to simplify the phone for general users not us geeks. Although I'm starting to believe that the "simple" people are the ones who post "Fail!

It gets really old Originally posted by elfman They don't recommend it, advise against it, yet it's their fault that it bricks? Originally posted by Mez: Your fault you bought one. It's a superb phone and I'm totally pleased with my purchase. I'm sorry your prejudices and blinders give you such a narrow focus. Let alone tested out the OS? Otherwise go back to arguing with your cat. Users who attempt to re-use MicroSD cards they purchased for older phones are in for a nasty surprise. Insert a legacy MicroSD into a Samsung Focus, and the device may crash, slow considerably, or suffer data corruption.

Worse, there's no going back—an incompatible SD card that's been plugged into a non-compatible handset can no longer be used the original reader. According to Microsoft, SD cards should only be inserted by the carrier and only certain specific SD cards are reported. When storage is added to a Win 7 phone, it performs the following tasks: It reformats the SD card It creates a single file system that spans the internal storage and the SD card.

Approved cards can be obtained from the manufacturer or carrier. The company also warns that once you use the card in your WP7 device, it will become unusable for other devices. Says Samsung via EWM : Once inserted and properly formatted, the memory card becomes an inseparable part of the phone.

This includes an inability to format the micro SD card for use in these devices. That's a bunch of bullshit. That's my only idea as to why they'd do such a thing X - iXtreme1. Man, i have seen some stupid crap over the years from big corporations. This is in the top 5.

It should be very cheap, considering you can only use it on a Bone7 phone. This whole thing doesn't really make sense. No need for drivers our anything to actually read the phone or what not. Give me a phone with a open OS on it and I just might get it Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them. So what happens when you want more memory? Do you lose everything you saved to the first card you put in? Because 'unusable' doesn't sound very friendly.
