Bootmgr is missing in windows server 2008

You restarted the Server for maintenance purpose. The system is Windows Server R2. If I set active partition on the 'C drive' with windows files then I have a message 'bootmgr is missing'.

Clicking on Next brings me to. Unfortunately, this is what I encountered recently after a Windows Server virtual machine rebooted following some routine Windows Updates. After some time spent troubleshooting, it did not appear that any of the updates themselves had caused the problem.

The type of backup system in use for this server allows me to boot virtual copies of the backups from any 15 minute interval in the previous 2 days. I was able to boot a virtual copy of this server from the backups before the updates were installed.

And the server had rebooted successfully 5 days ago, so something in the past 5 days after that last reboot caused this problem. To do this, follow these steps:. If the previous method does not resolve the problem, you can rebuild the BCD store by using the Bootrec. Your version did it. But I did not need step 4 and 5 ;. Thanks Cheers. Then you could just upload an 08 iso and move forward. Do let us know how it goes. Havs Oct 15, at UTC. Thanks for the tip though. James for Microsoft wrote: To bad the server isn't virtualized. In the System Recovery Options window choose your operating system.

If that does not work, turn to a Windows 7 x64 DVD and try again. The Windows R2 problem somehow can be fixed by Windows 7 installation disc, which is tested by its users. Reboot from the DVD again and do a repair. Keep doing this process until there is nothing wrong.
